American 9-Ball Pool Game Description
Game Tags: 9 Ball Pool Games, Straight Pool Games
American 9-Ball Pool is a lot of fun for the sheer fact that it goes to such lengths to recreate the feeling of being in your favorite pub, a pint of your favorite lager at your side knocking nine balls into the pockets. Everything about the game is designed to create a feeling of really being there. You’ll hear the crowd make realistic noises in response to particularly good, or particularly bad shots. The graphics represent the soft lighting of the bar atmosphere and the sound effects are all pitch perfect.
The game uses an AI program to offer competition. A nice change of pace from so many other pool games which are one or two players, but rarely offer you computer controlled opponents to test your mettle against. Something that’s very refreshing about the AI controlled opponents is that they can make mistakes.
Each of your opponents are named and can progress alongside you in a tournament brackets style competition, and sometimes they’ll make a mistake that will let you place the cue ball or forfeit the match to you. This allows you to use a strategy that professional pool players love: Messing up the other guy’s shot by putting the cue ball in a bad spot.
To shoot, tap once to decide how you’re going to aim and bring up the cue and once more to shoot once you’ve decided how strong of a shot you want by moving the mouse up and down. All in all, American 9-Ball Pool scores high points for realism and will keep you coming back for more in between trips to your favorite pub or bar. It is the next best thing to actually having a pool table right in your living room.
